Applying Surecrete XS-327 Polyurethane Sealer

XS-327 is a water based polyurethane sealer designed for application over concrete surfaces like concrete countertops, cement based terrazzo, and fiber reinforced concrete. XS-327 surpasses the abrasion resistance of most solvent-based sealers, while providing the safety of a non-flammable, low VOC water based concrete sealer. XS-327 meets the most stringent of VOC regulations at just 25 g/L. XS-327 becomes food safe upon curing.

What You’ll Need

Step 1 – Prepare Sealer

  • Mix 3 Parts A : 2 Parts B.

  • Mix for 3 minutes using a paddle attachment on a cordless drill.
  • Let the mix set for 5-7 minutes.
  • Add 7 parts water to 1 part catalyzed XS-327 and mechanically mix again for 1-2 minutes.
  • Let it sit for 1-2 minutes or until all foam or bubbles are gone.

Step 2 – Prime Coat

  • Pour the sealer on the countertop.
  • Use a roller to apply it to the edges first.
  • Roll it on the surface, pushing the foam off the edge.
  • Continue rolling with light pressure.
  • Switch to a dry roller if necessary (to soak up extra sealer).
  • Keep rolling until any small bubbles in the surface are gone. Keep moisture in the roller and use less pressure until you’re happy with the surface.
  • Drying Time: Varies due to temperature, humidity, surface texture, and percentage of water reduction. A six hour time frame or longer may be required before the first coat dries sufficiently for a second coat.

Step 3 – Second Coat

  • If the second coat is applied 48 hours after the first coat, scuff the surface for proper bonding.
  • A full cure is achieved between 5-7 days at 75°F.

Step 4 – Cleanup and Disposal

  • Cleanup: Before XS-327 dries, clean up spills and over-spray with soap and water.
  • Disposal: Contact your local government household hazardous waste coordinator for information on disposal of unused product.
