Precast Concrete Countertops

EIGHT: WAX THE COUNTERTOP

Waxing a countertop protects the sealer  from damage by pots, pans, and everyday use. CHENG Concrete Countertop Wax is a premium carnauba wax designed for concrete countertops, drying extremely hard to provide a protective coating.

Step 1 – Wax

  • How to apply CHENG Wax:

    •    Use a 100% cotton towel or an applicator pad that won’t scratch.
    •    Apply by hand or with an orbital buffer.
    •    Dampen the pad with water, wring it out, and apply the wax.
    •    Wax small areas at a time with tight circular motions.
    •    The wax dries extremely hard and needs to be buffed off while still soft.
    •    Apply up to 3 coats on a new countertop.
    •    Re-wax every few months or more for high traffic areas.

Step 2 – Polish

  • Spray a fine mist of polish on the area to be polished.
  • With polish still wet, begin working the polish into the surface.
  • Let polish dry for a few minutes.
  • Buff to a shine with a soft terry towel. Initially the polish will be waxy and difficult to buff. Keep buffing until the surface is smooth and slick.
Previous: Sealing

A good sealer is the best way to protect your countertop from unwanted signs of use and wear. Acidic foods like citrus and mustard will even etch concrete.
