How to Use CX Pro-Formula Pour-In-Place Concrete Countertop Mix

CX Pro-Formula Pour-In-Place Concrete Countertop is ideal for casting poured-in-place concrete countertops. Its ease of use, superior strength, and extended work time make CX Pour-In-Place Concrete Countertop Mix the perfect choice for professionals and DIYers alike.  The system is comprised of two separate components: CX Pour-In-Place Concrete Countertop Admixture and CX Water Reducer. Each component is conveniently pre-measured for blending a 3 ft3 batch of perfect concrete countertop mix.

What You’ll Need

Step 1 – Add Dry Materials to Mixer

  • Place 360 pounds of Sakrete 5000 Plus Concrete Mix into a 9 ft3 concrete mixer.
  • Add one CX Pour-In-Place Concrete Countertop Pro-Formula dry admix to the Sakrete 5000 Plus Concrete Mix.
  • If the admixture fibers are clumped together, break them apart with your fingers when adding them to the concrete mixer.
  • Add three packets of CX SmartColor to the concrete mixer.
  • Cover the mouth of the mixer with a plastic trash bag and secure in place with a bungee chord to contain the dust while blending.
  • Turn the concrete mixer on and blend for 10 minutes.

Step 2 – Mix CX Water Reducer and Water

  • Divide 4-1/2 gallons of water into two seperate containers.
  • Just before you begin to mix the concrete, add one bottle of CX Water Reducer to one of the water container and thoroughly mix.

Step 3 – Add Diluted Water Reducer to Mixer

  • While the mixer is running, remove the plastic bag and add the container of water and water reducer dilution to the concrete mixer.
  • With the mixer continuing to spin, slowly add the remaining water a little at a time.
  • By slowly adding the remaining water we can monitor the mix consistency and stop adding water when our ideal mix consistency is achieved. Every batch of concrete will have slightly different water requirements and we don’t want to add too much water to the mix.

Step 4 – Complete Mixing

  • Allow the mixer to spin for a minimum of 5 minutes to insure that all the concrete materials, pigments, and additives are thoroughly blended. Periodically, turn the mixer off and scrape down the sides of the mixer to ensure there’s no unmixed concrete stuck to the sides of the mixing drum.
